When he got his start in the insurance industry in 1986, David began with a clear goal in mind: to give exceptional insurance advice. "I never wanted to be the biggest firm," he explains. "I've always just wanted to help people plan their lives."
For the past 30 years (and counting), he's done precisely that. And since then he has firmly established himself in the industry, completing his Level 5 Financial Services qualification in 2012. He also meets regularly with industry peers to share ideas and develop professionally.
For David, insurance isn't about numbers or policies—it's about people. "The thing that I enjoy most about my role as an adviser? Meeting new people, learning about their families and businesses, and helping them plan for their future."
Outside of work, David loves spending time with his two adult children and his wife Jocelyn, who runs her own legal practice. He's also heavily involved in the Cambridge community, as chair of the Cambridge Community Charitable Trust, trustee of the Give It Back Charitable Trust, former chair of Hautapu School BOT and an honorary member of Rotary Cambridge.
Faye Thornton
Adviser & Office Manager
For over 24years, Faye has been making clients' lives easier by managing their insurance claims. "I get a great deal of satisfaction knowing that my experience in handling claims will help them when they need it most."
But there are many more strings to Faye's bow. She also takes care of the financial side of the business and manages our office. She's also a Financial Adviser and holds a National Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5).
Faye knows first-hand how stressful life can be during a crisis, having faced a life-threatening illness herself. "I know that dealing with an insurance company at that time is the last thing on your mind," Faye says. "So I really enjoy helping our clients achieve a positive outcome at a really stressful time of their lives."
Faye and her husband have two adult children and live on a lifestyle block in Cambridge with various animals and have been part of the Cambridge community for over 25 years.
Karyn Powell
Office Administrator
Karyn has an extensive knowledge of office administration and is a well-known face around Cambridge.
Her work days are Tuesday to Thursday and in her spare time she likes to keep fit, loves the beach, a good book and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Toni is our Specialist KiwiSaver Adviser at Cooney Insurance.
Toni is a Financial Adviser and a Chartered Accountant with 20 years’ experience in the accountancy industry in both public and private practices.
Her goal as a KiwiSaver Adviser is to ensure that everyone is maximising their return potential on their KiwiSaver investments.
Outside of the office Toni and her husband Lee are kept very busy with their 4 boys.
